Jeremy Cowart's images are gorgeous and moving-particularly those that he has taken on his trips to Africa. They have been compiled into a book-Hope in the Dark- which I highly recommend purchasing.
He is also involved in the Mocha Club, along with Mr. Wertz and Mr. Barnes-the concept is so simple and yet so successful. Basically, you donate the equivalent of two mochas a month-$7.00 (or a CD, or whatever trivial thing you buy regularly..maybe 7 of my diet cokes?) and you can pick which project in Africa that they are involved in that you would like it to be donated to.
You can feed one person for an entire month for that amount. While that seems staggering, it is also inspiring, because we CAN actually do something tangible for these people. There is no guessing game about where the money goes or if it is actually helping, because, it IS. We have the opportunity to literally change a life with so little.
