Grammy rundown

We hunkered down yesterday around 5, with piles of saturated fat (courtesy of Sam's club) to watch all 12 hours of the Grammy's.
My abbreviated commentary:

Yes, Whitney looked great. But why is no one talking about her drug/alcohol/Bobby Brown induced stupor. She was stumbling all over her words and her eyes were categorically wonky. Oh, and one kiss blown to Clive Davis is enough, Whit.
Miley cannot sing. I don't know why the recording industry needed this little duet on national television to remind themselves...but it was painful...like cringe inducing. Find a new bestie, Taylor.

Justin Timberlake/Al Green can do no wrong. Poor, poor Keith Urban back there. Although he was featured in no less than two performances last night, apparently his guitar skills, and not his vocal prowess, are in demand these days. He didn't get near a microphone.
M.I.A is a riot. Performing in a mesh cut-out dress on your due date-That kid is going to be out of control.

Mr. Mayer wore a satin mock-collar jacket. Sometimes I think he wears this stuff just to be written about.

Carrie was so shiny last night. Her bronzed legs were blinding and made me want to do leg lifts for the rest of eternity.

Finally, my ABSOLUTE favorite moment of last night. Adele winning best new artist. She wasn't even mentioned in all of the pre-show British invasion montages, and then she destroyed the competition. I screamed, fell back in my chair, and almost went crashing through our sliding glass door at this point. She is fabulous..her album shot up to #6 on Itunes within 30 minutes of the show airing. Keep on chewing that gum, girl.

I will choose not to mention the fact that the musical gods allowed the Jonas Brothers and Stevie Wonder to perform together...and then nick forgot the words to superstitious. I won't dignify it with a picture or the paragraph of disgust that I could write.

GG withdrawls

I got caught up on Gossip Girl the other night via zee youtubes.
I wish I was kidding, but I felt a sense of accomplishment. I can breathe a sigh of relief...phew, I can be conversant again with my peers about the trashy high school melodramas of our day.

Way to go Court.

Friggin Sherlock

Where there's a pointless debate/investigation/question, there's me...searching to give you the absolutely pointless answers.
Whitney Port, of The City, previously of The Hills (and previous to that an actual real life person) lives in the most ridiculous apt in NYC. She's 23. Seriously?

Well apparently this little shot (clearly shot from the next deck over..and thus, completely set up, mind you) caused quite a ruckus. It shows a brick exterior as opposed to the glass exterior that the panned out shots show of Whit's little apt in Gramercy...... Am I still talking about this?
Well, I found this handy little graphic to clear the air. Whitney lives at The Elektra and pays around 10K/month. I'm not kidding. Did I mention she's 23? Yes. Did I mention that MTV has hooked up each and every one of these girls with their sweet jobs and in return these companies get a RIDICULOUS amount of publicity. Umm, Hi Kelly Cutrone and People's Revolution. Am I adding to their plot by continuing to talk about it? Why, yes, yes I am.

I'm so glad this debate was settled. Don't we all feel better about our day now?

Stagnant

Let us recap:

Adele is unbelievable live. She legitimately wore a poncho, black leggings, and gray socks to perform to a sold-out crowd (including baby Archuleta, not that I was stalking or anything). If she doesn't win a Grammy next Sunday, the system is officially corrupt. She's still on tour...see her while her tickets are still under $20. March 12 Austinites!

See Slumdog Millionaire immediately. IMMEDIATELY. Seeing this kid is worth the eight bucks alone.

Miss America's swimsuit competition drove us to slather ice cream on our hips. We were helpless in the matter. Also, Miss Texas, you and your mom haircut were a disgrace to my state and all it stands for. Miss Utah, your state intro: "Where the olympics are cold, and where our HOT David Archuleta hails from"...NO..NO..NO. Olympics and a second-place AI contestant. Way to play up your state. How does top 50 feel?

I had a veritable treasure trove of snarky comments in regards to the pageant, but unfortunately the sheer volume of literature reviews and reading this week have fried my brain and my memory of pop culture comments only lasts a week. I apologize.

The Yellow House

During my morning perusal of Park City real estate that I cannot afford, I found several obnoxious, ostentatious 22 million mega-mansions. Not my taste. I'm a much simpler 2.4 million kinda girl. Especially when it comes in the form of a restored, cheery, yellow house in the heart of old town.
I'm a sucker for pale blues and beadboard. Blame my mother.
See the rest of the house here.

Honorable Mentions:100% my style minus the kitchen..see the rest here.

And this guy:
Not my taste, but so fun. See the rest here.

Inauguration Wrap-up

Yes, the inauguration was moving and amazing. And Michelle looked great..blah blah blah. Let's get down to the nitty gritty though...here's what I learned:

Shakira should never be invited to anything where a sense of decorum needs to be maintained. Gyrating at an inaugural ball? Seriously?

I still love the Bush twins. Oh, and Jenna's husband looks more and more like G. dub every day.
Jill Biden is saucy and Joe gets his teeth whitened daily.

Aretha can do whatever she wants. Maybe she just watches a lot of Gossip Girl.
Beyonce needs a new stylist. STAT.

Finally, Malia and Sasha are dolls. Guess who made their coats? Crewcuts!....they will be released in their fall line. That family is like a freaking walking J. Crew ad.

Apparently the Jonas Brothers were the prize at the end of their scavenger hunt through the white house on Tuesday night. I hope the girls got down to the bottom of the Miley break-up. What a tragedy.

And just to jump on the blog bandwagon...here's my official campaign poster.

Stock up

Along with Obama's Tuesday inauguration comes hoards of people peddling their wares. Here are a few favorites:

L to R
1. $2,500 chair...and "they're only a few left" I'm a little shocked to hear that a substantial amount of people have a house where this loud chair would just "fit in" with existing decor

2. Sneakers and pop art skateboard..between 60-70 dollars...I've never seen any Reagan skateboards...just for the record

3. $8 paperdolls of the first family. Unfortunately,I think the artist got tired after drawing Michelle and just cut and pasted model faces onto Barack and the girls. No seriously, click to enlarge..it's a joke.

4. At least mildly amusing at $25, AND your dog can be a part of the political process

5. 40 dollars for 4 oz. of cologne..what exactly makes this special to Obama? I'm pretty sure I could have bottled up Clinique Happy in a pretty little bottle and pawned it off on unsuspecting Americans

6. What a lovely $95 nameplate..the unintelligible "b" is my favorite part...truly a masterpiece
